FAQ

Can you buy genuine dinosaur fossils?

Yes. Lots in this section: 15 — skeletons, skulls, teeth, claws and egg clutches. RELICTUM exhibits are sold legally and come with a provenance passport.

How much do dinosaur fossils cost?

Prices in this section: from 150 000 ₽ to 15 000 000 ₽. A tooth or claw costs many times less than a skull, and a complete skeleton is the most expensive format: the price depends on species, size, preservation and the share of original bone.

What does skeleton completeness mean?

The share of original bones in the skeleton. Missing elements are restored during preparation, and everything that has been restored is stated in the lot description.

Who installs the skeleton?

Skeletons and large skulls are installed and mounted by RELICTUM or its contractor; the terms are agreed when the order is confirmed.

About this selection

How to choose

Dinosaur fossils for a collection or interior are chosen on three things: the share of original bone, the quality of preparation and the presentation. In large skeletons and skulls some elements are always restored, and it is important to know the honest percentage. Careful preparation preserves the texture of the bone and the sutures; rough work leaves the surface looking 'washed out'. The mount shapes the impression: a skeleton needs a well-designed steel armature, a single bone a low, stable stand. For a home, people more often choose a skull or a limb fragment; a complete dinosaur skeleton needs a spacious hall and viewing from a distance.
