Dronino is an iron ataxite meteorite found in Ryazan Oblast in 2000. Its shower of fragments had been scattered across the field long before the discovery: separate pieces lay in the soil like dispersed parts of a single celestial body, each with its own relief of melting and corrosion.
Seven such fragments are brought together. Each preserves traces of cosmic flight and long residence in the soil: fusion crust, weathering pits, and transitions from dark corroded areas to bright metal. Their substance is older than Earth — almost pure nickel–iron from the interior of a shattered protoplanet.
