In this Seymchan fragment, mass is essential: 335 g gives the slice an almost sculptural presence. The brown edge above preserves its natural character, while the adjacent polished metallic plane looks restrained and precious.

The matter of Seymchan took shape about 4.5 billion years ago at the boundary between the core and mantle of a shattered protoplanet. On all-metal slices the Widmanstätten pattern is visible — an interweaving of bands of crystallized nickel-iron; it forms as metal cools extremely slowly within a cosmic body over millions of years, and such a structure cannot be reproduced in the laboratory.

In this slice, the Widmanstätten pattern occupies almost the entire polished surface, forming a broad lattice of intersecting bands. Along the upper edge, a brown crust is preserved, marking the natural boundary of the meteorite fragment.
