The gift in an interior

How the gift will look in the recipient's home

This is how the piece looks not in a showcase but in a home or study: it is easier to judge its scale and choose a place — a desk, a shelf or a niche.

About this selection

How to choose

A gift for a collector is chosen more strictly than an ordinary interior piece. Preservation, quality of preparation and provenance all matter. With trilobites, look at the completeness of the body and the detail of small elements; with marine reptiles, at the share of original bone and how carefully the matrix was worked. A skeleton or rare skull should match the focus of the collection: some collect only marine fauna, others dinosaurs. It is best to find out in advance what the collection still lacks and choose a gift that fills a noticeable gap.
